YFC sells a full line of groceries, including locally-grown produce, Michigan beer & wine, Fair Trade coffee & chocolate, frozen & dairy foods, and artisan breads & pastries baked in YFC's wood-fired brick oven. Bread Bakery Manager Opening

This position is full-time and requires an early (baker’s) morning start with the possibility of evenings and weekends. The Bread Department Manager is responsible for the maintenance and care of a wood-fired oven, bread production from mix to bake with doughs including sourdough, yeasted and other pre-ferments, recipe development, night mix, scheduling, inventory/ordering for department and meeting the needs of wholesale accounts. This is a rewarding shift for those who have a passion for bread and allows the use of local, organic grains to feed a community wonderful breads. A unique experience that has much potential to craft truly great loaves.

Qualified candidates will have the following skills and qualities:

Bakery experience or kitchen experience
Some supervising, or management experience preferred
Ability to use Hobart stand mixer, understand dough development
Understanding of fermentation, baking, and ability to adapt to breads needs
