Local Vendor Focus: Omena Organics

Omena Organics is operated by three generations of Weaver family farmers growing fruit on the spectacular Leelanau peninsula. The result is a variety of high-quality, sustainably-farmed products that they are honored to present to their customers. Omena says, "Organic produce is better. It is sweeter, more flavorful and has a deeper color."

Omena Organics is certified organic by Ecocert (formerly I.C.O.), a USDA accredited certification agency. The USDA certifies Omena Organics as an operation that follows ´╗┐Good Agricultural Practices (GAP).  Michigan Agriculture Environmental Assurance Program (MAEAP) certified Omena Organics as an Environmentally Verified Farm (see below). You can rest assured their practices are good for our state.

"From Our Farm, to Your Table" is the motto of Omena Organics. They provide outstanding frozen, dried and canned fruit products. Ypsi Food Coop carries Omena Organics applesauce, dried blueberries & cherries, apple juice & shelf-stable cider, pumpkin & cherry pie filling, and frozen cherries. Look for their beautiful labels on our shelves.

Farmers Bob & Jane Weaver say they feel lucky to live in such a beautiful place and are happy to provide for their customers just a little bit of that beauty through their organic products.
